Museo
de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Museum)
Address: 9 de julio 48.
This
important building was put up in 1908 to be used as headquarters of the Province
Bank. With an unmistakable French influence, its facade looks imposing and stately.
The place housed the Educational Council for long, until 1977,
when it became the Fine Arts Museum.
In
the interior, you can complete a whole journey into Tucumán painting of
all times, with works by Ignacio Baz, Nieto Palacio, Navarro,
Mossi, Ferragni, Lobo de la Vega, Linares, Legname,
Salas, Gatti and others. Besides, there are also works by Argentine
authors like Quinquela Martin, Pio Colivadino, Victorica,
Pettoruti, Silva, Mac Entyre, Soldi, Gomez Cornet,
Policastro, Ballester Peña, etc.; and some foreigners, like
Foujita and Nanzoni.
Among
sculptures you can find works by Iramain, Alonso, Dato, Badff,
Musso, Fernández Larrinaga, Vanz and De la Nota,
among others.
Temporary exhibitions are permanently held within
the museum, both by Tucumán-born artists or Argentine guests in general.
