Colombres's Home is one the most interesting examples of colonial houses of late
18th century. It consists of two stories with quebracho beam ladders dating from
the time it was built. The place was restored around 1913 for the last time.
Very near
the house lays the first sugar mill in Tucumán, built out of quebracho
wood; it is what was left of the factory the priest set up in his property, thus
giving rise to the first industry of the north of the country.
In
an adjoining building, there are the old pailas (cauldron), spoons and stone masonry.
Next to one of the side walls of the living quarters is the steam mill which replaced
the former in the late 19th century.
The house was declared to
be a Historic National Monument in August, 1941.
