It is situated in the house belonging to Bishop Colombres's family; this exceptional priest is said to have died in one of its rooms.

This building of a simple architecture dates from post-colonial times and except for some alterations in the interior and in the facade, the house keeps the spirit of the period intact.

The Folk Museum was founded through a resolution of the Executive branch of the province in 1943. Its exhibitions present excellent examples of popular and folk handicraft from Tucumán and other northern provinces. A great number of elements, of different origins and materials, are exhibited here as a sample of the relevance and quality of the non-industrialized production.
