In the province of Tucumán,
there are three important academic units, Tucumán National University,
Saint Thomas Aquinas North University and Lillo Institute. Among
these institutions of higher education, the Lillo Institute, dealing with
the study of natural science, has the widest international renown.
Tucumán
National University, founded in 1912, encompasses several Schools where
in turn different degrees are granted, thus providing a range which covers a great
number of disciplines.
The Saint Thomas Aquinas North University
was founded in 1965 and its campus are next to the basilica of Nuestra
Señora del Santísimo Rosario (Our Lady of the Holy Rosary).
